Biocon Foundation – (Oral Cancer Control Program using Mobile Health (mHealth))

One of the primary reasons for the poor outcome of oral cancer treatment is the delayed presentation of the condition. Oral cancer is often preceded by a potential pre- cancerous lesion which can be detected by a simple oral visual examination by a health worker. Therefore, a mobile health (mHealth) approach has been designed to overcome the challenges and conduct mass screening in a cost-effective way. There is a lacuna in research pertaining to early detection of the disease and a lack of specialists in rural areas. Therefore, the program also aims to focus its efforts on the research and development of various Point-of-Care technologies with the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence.
